The assembly at Glenmachan is currently led by Pastor Alan Stephens
Dr. Stephens and his wife Jean both surrendered their lives to the Lord in November 1981 and have been members of the Glenmachan congregation ever since.
Pastor Stephens has always been an active member of Glenmachan, working as Church Bus Driver, a member of the Door to Door Outreach Team under the leadership of the late Elder David Hobson, and a member of Glenmachan Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra where he played the Saxophone. In 1988 he was made an Elder of the Glenmachan congregation and in 1993/94 he served as Lay Pastor in Larne Church of God.
From then he continued to serve the Lord in Glenmachan helping out in our sister churches, preaching and sharing Bible Studies. Pastor Stephens is a fully qualified Counsellor and EMDR Practitioner and has worked voluntarily for various Charitable Organisations, counselling, teaching and holding seminars. He also worked as a part time Tutor in Castlereagh College, Belfast teaching various counselling courses. He was ordained into full-time ministry in April 2004 and later appointed as Senior Minister of the Glenmachan congregation in May 2007 and officially installed in that position on Wednesday 12th September 2007.
Pastor Stephens has a clear vision for the future; to encourage young men and women to become active for God in their local Church with its community outreaches, supporting and co-operating with the Pastoral Leadership as it prepares them to become tomorrows Church with its diverse ministries, and to build a Church that is Bible based, Christ centred and Spirit-empowered, equipped to face the challenges of change in this 21st Century.
Pastor Stephens believes that despite society’s current sensuality and religious stagnation we will again see the Lord moving mightily through our land in revival, bringing the hearts of the people back unto Himself.
Already people are sensing a hunger for God, a fed-up-ness with the material things of life that can never fully satisfy, and a God-implanted desire to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
