The company was formed over 40 years ago under the leadership of Mrs Lottie Wright and latterly Mrs Marion Halliday until her retirement this year.
During its history the 216th has enjoyed many successes in a range of competitions from Scripture, PE and Marching, Choral Speaking, Games and many other activities.
Both Captains have had a huge influence on many young girls some who are now Officers themselves in the company.
The 216th Company of the Girls Brigade has a dedicated band of Officers who are committed to the aim of the Girls Brigade:
To help girls to become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility, to find true enrichment of life.
We are a vibrant company with approximately 100 girls and Officers. As a company our aim is to provide a varied programme of activities suited to each age group with a strong emphasis in Bible teaching and fun, to help promote a strong sense of unity and togetherness and to enable the development of good friendships.
